Cylinder locks are commonly used on uPVC doors, but they can also be used on other types of doors. They operate by using a key that unlock a cylinder case that is then revealed with pins that can be aligned to those in the lock body and permitting them to turn an revolving cam, opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins, with external and internal doors typically requiring different levels of security.

Selecting the right cylinder for your needs is essential; it is contingent on how your door and handle are utilized. For instance, doors that are external should be fitted with a higher security cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured with an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features that increase security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

A euro cylinder needs to be measured correctly to ensure it's the right size for your door. The cylinder needs to be measured from the screw hole in the center to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn, in the event that one is present. If you cannot measure using the lock in a fixed position, you can take it out of it. It is essential to ensure that there is no cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The design of most newer cylinders comes with anti-drilling as well as bump resistance features. They are designed to minimize attacks by forcing cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can deflect the attack, and protect your door.

There are also cylinders that have been designed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. Spring Cassette

The spring cassette is situated within the base plate of the door handle. It provides a sprung solution to return your multipoint lock handles back to their resting position after use. This simple feature is one of the most effective ways to fix this and it is also an effective way to keep your doors made of upvc from becoming stuck in an open or closed position, since they are not always easy to manually close by hand.

The spring cassettes were made to be used with a sprung multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into the backplate to allow them to fit. (Please see the image for a detailed diagram). These cassettes are a solution to damaged or missing cassettes in the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit. They come with a square cut out that accommodates an 8mm shaft.
