Seats

Most 3 wheel double buggies begin life as single pushchairs. However, some can be converted to take the seat of a second person or carrycot with adapters (these are typically more common in tandem buggies). There are also models allow you to add a ride-on board to older children who want to walk but require a little help.

Check out the Joie Evalite Duo for an ideal, lightweight solution for city streets. It's easy to move and has a large basket with lots of storage. It can be used to accommodate twins from birth and accept two car seats or a carrycot and seat. The seats must be facing towards the front and there is no space for an item under the seat. You will require a sidepack.

Mountain Buggy Duet will be an ideal choice If you like off-road driving. It's a side-byside model with the smallest footprint of any double buggy available on the market. It's much easier to get through narrow doors on public transport, and to climb over and up kerbs. It also has a handbrake that is attached to the handlebar that can be adjusted for more security and safety.

The UPPAbaby Vista 2 double is a lightweight option that is suitable for twins or a toddler and a baby. The seats can be reclining in multiple positions with UPF 50+ sunshades. The canopy can be adjusted to ensure that the sun doesn't get into your child's eyes. The Vista 2 can be converted into triple by adding UPPAbaby's 'PiggyBack’ board for older children.

The iCandy Orange is one of the most well-known double buggies that are available because of its exceptional comfort. It is a true all terrain pushchair, with a soft suspension to make smooth work of bumpy surfaces. It offers 30 different seating configurations, a built-in board for older children who like to walk, and a 'cinema' mode which raises the back seats to provide better visibility.

Alternately, the phil&teds dots is a great single buggy from the beginning which is then able to take 2 (or 3 wheel parent facing pushchair!) Multiple configurations are possible. This is especially helpful if you have an infant in a car seat because the frame can be equipped with a wedgie to allow for optimal lying flat, or car seat adapters for many brands.

Suspension

The quality of the suspension on a 3-wheel double buggy is vital to how it is easy for you and your baby/s to push. It is important to have a smooth ride because babies can feel every bump that comes along the road. This is especially true if you are driving on rough terrain like grass or unpaved roads. Some models have locking front tires to assist in maneuvering and getting over obstacles like curbs.

Certain models have air-filled tyres, which provide a fantastic all-terrain ride, but can be prone to punctures so make sure you have a spare set in the trunk. Others have foam or gel tyres, which are designed to take the bumps and are less susceptible to punctures, however, you might find them a little stiff and uncomfortable on your child's back should you decide to jog.

Folding

A three-wheel double buggy can fold up very well for storage. It's the most compact side-by-side double available and it comes with some amazing technology, including games-changing LED lights on each side of the buggy frame to improve safety in low light conditions.

The clever frame can expand to accommodate a second seat, yet it weighs only 11kg. This makes it easy to lift and move. It can be used with an infant car seat, a carrycot, or both.
