In 1998, Toto celebrated its 20th anniversary by going through several demos and tapes from the past to release a special edition called Toto XX. The album was well-loved by fans and Toto began a tour with former members Bobby Kimball Steve Porcaro and Joseph Williams.

Shem von Schröck replaced Leland Sklar as the drummer during the tour for the 40 Trips Around the Sun album. In the year 2017, Toto released the double-CD set Falling in Between. It included tour recordings as well as an interview with the group.
