Albums

Toto's discography comprises 13 studio albums and four live albums. There are also a few compilations. In addition to the release of original music, Toto has also done collaborations with other artists and on soundtracks for films. The group has won multiple Grammy Awards.

Before the formation of Toto the band, members performed sessions for other musicians. Drummer Jeff Porcaro, bassist David Hungate, and keyboardist David Paich (the son of session drummer Marty Paich and brother of guitarist Joe Porcaro) played on Boz Scaggs' 1975 album Silk Degrees. The group's collaboration led to formation of Toto in the year 1976.

The third album of Toto, Turn Back, marked a departure from the more progressive sound of their earlier efforts and was criticized for the lack of hit singles. In 1985 the group's lead singer Fergie Frederiksen left the group The band held auditions for a new frontman.
