3 Wheeled Buggies

A 3-wheel buggy can be used for off-road walking and for traversing terrains such as uneven paths or woodland tracks. They are also easier to maneuver up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.

Stability

Four-wheel buggies with their centre of gravity balancing by your child's weight within the seat are generally more stable than three-wheelers. Three-wheel buggies are nevertheless worth considering as they can take on anything from rough terrain to busy streets.

If you want a buggie that is easy to maneuver and will not be a problem on bumpy pavements, look for one with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These buggies are typically equipped with pneumatic tyres as well, which are great at handling non-paved surfaces and can be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.

They're also great buggies to jog with since they offer excellent stability on rougher terrain, and can help you stay with your running companion. They are also great for climbing and descending steep kerbs as well and a majority come with suspension built-in which means your child will be able to ride comfortably.

A stroller with 3 wheels can be difficult to maneuver due to its wide frame. It can be more difficult to get through doorways and narrow spaces than a 4-wheeler. However, some manufacturers have tackled this issue by implementing clever design that lets the wheels turn up when they are not in use, which reduces their overall size and allows you to get through doorways with ease.

If so, check for a lie-flat location and also whether the design is compatible with second seating and buggy boards (if you want to add the toddler). Manoeuvrability

Three-wheeled buggies generally offer better manoeuvrability than pushchairs with four wheels. They typically come with a swivelling front wheel that allows you to shift direction quickly and steer with just one hand. Some models also have a lockable front wheel that can provide the stability you need on rough terrain. Some models can be used with an additional seat or buggy board if you're looking to expand your family.

If you're considering taking your three-wheeled vehicle off of tracks that are paved, it's worth selecting a model with air-filled tyres (also known as pneumatic tyres) that can withstand the most challenging terrain. These tyres will need periodic pumping, but will be much more durable than tyres that are solid and more likely to be puncture-proof. Find a model with a a lockable swivelling front wheel to help you negotiate tricky surfaces.

When folded, three-wheelers may be more bulky than buggies with four wheels because of the single wheel on the front. Be sure that the model you choose fits inside your car's boot and can be positioned upright if required. Some models fold by one hand, and they can be raised when folded. This can save space in small car boot.

A well-constructed 3 wheel pushchair will be able to deal with any terrain, from busy streets to tracks through woodlands. It's important to think about the purpose you'll use for your day-to-day use. If you'll be doing the school run, it should be able to handle steep kerbs and slopes. If you're planning to run on it, ensure it has a swivelling "stretch front wheel' that can be locked. This will help keep the ride in place.

MFM reviewer Kath found her three-wheeled buggy to be able to perform well on the countryside and urban walks. She said that it navigated rocky paths, cobbles and bumpy pavements easily and felt pleasant to jog with. It's also a great option for day trips since it offers plenty of storage space.
