Inline Lever/Lever

This is useful for doors with narrower openings where the cylinder is further back in the door. A lever that is shorter can be used for doors with a latch that can be opened by the thumb on the inside.

Lever Pad

The lever pad upvc handle differs from the lever handles used on the majority of doors. The handle can work off one single spindle (inline) or independently from both sides using two offset or inline spindles (pad). They are commonly used on UPVC doors with double glazing. They come in a variety of finishes & variations.

The handles are available in various finishes, including White, Chrome and Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle with the best performance and long-lasting durability for its intended use.

All UPVC handle lever pads come with a spindle, screws, and can be fitted on a uPVC door. The backplate fixing centres of 211mm permit a bigger size handle that is often a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The levers for these handles have springs, which eliminate the issue of patio door handle replacement handles that move out of horizontal position when they are not being used.

It is essential to match the PZ dimensions of both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also known as the handle centre or 'cylinder centres which is a crucial aspect in ensuring that you have the correct handles.

Once you have the correct PZ size, you'll need to ensure that the handle lever pads and push pads are of a suitable shape for the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) approved handles you need for your doors. These are typically a square or round shape with an internal lever as well as an external push pad.

This means they can be reverted to a horizontal position after not in use instead of hanging, tilt and turn window handles possibly being stuck in the frame. This prevents drafts and cold air from getting into a house. The majority of UPVC lever pad style handles are available in left and right handed versions which allows them to be placed on either side of doors.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other types of doors. The cylinder lock is operated by a key which unlocks the cylinder case. The case is then able to reveal pins that can be aligned to those in the lock, and permit them to turn the camera that rotates, opening the door. Euro Cylinders are available with up to six pins. Doors that are internal and external require different levels of security.

Choosing the right cylinder is essential; it depends on the way your door and handle are used. For instance, doors that are external must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, while internal doors can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Additionally, certain cylinders are available with extra features which can enhance security, for instance anti-drill or anti-bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is of the right size for your door, it must be measured correctly. The cylinder should be measured from the hole in the center of the fixing screw to the other end of the cylinder and the thumb turn if you have one. It is best to do this with the lock in place however, when this isn't possible, you can remove it to measure. It is crucial to avoid having a cylinder that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This could make it susceptible to lock snapping attacks.

The design of many modern cylinders includes anti-drilling and bump resistance features. These are designed to reduce attack chances by forcing the cylinders to turn in a new direction. This can deflect the attack, and keep your door safe.

There are cylinders that have been constructed to resist snapping. This is a common attack on cylinders. A special tool is used to break the lock's break line and the front of the cylinder is snapped off. This is much quicker and less difficult than opening a multipoint lock and leaves no evidence of a break-in, which can impede an insurance claim.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits within the base of your door handle backplate, providing a spring solution to return your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after using. There was a time when handles of this kind did not have a spring integrated into them, and without it they can droop or drop when the locking mechanism is removed. This simple component is the best solution to solve this issue. It also prevents your upvc door from becoming stuck in either the closed or open position as they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a sprung multipoint locks. They are not compatible with handles that aren't sprung, and you will have to cut a hole into your backplate in order for them to fit. (Please see the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes are a solution for damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles. They are sold as a single unit. They have a square-cut out that is able to accommodate an 8mm shaft.
