After a string of social media posts that hint at it, Italian supercar-maker Lamborghini has finally announced its first NFT (non-fungible token) project. The project is dubbed Space Key and developed in collaboration with an unidentified artist, it is based on a piece of advanced carbon fiber composite material that was sent to the International Space Station for research purposes.

The Space Key is a collection of five physical items that unlocks an exclusive digital artwork by an unidentified artist. Each of the five Space Keys features a different moment that takes place at different times as the Lamborghini Ultimae takes off towards the stars. Each of five images was shot by photographer Fabian Oefner and contains over 600 million pixels.

Oefner used an inflatable camera that had lenses to capture the individual images, which were later put together into the final image. The result is a picture that is out of this world. It captures the beauty of Earth and the futuristic, hyperrealistic look of a car rising away from the Earth. The Space Keys are going to be auctioned soon, but there isn't a specific date or location yet.

The auction
