Three Wheeled Buggies

MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with an infant and a toddler and found it to be extremely sturdy. It was able to handle cobbles, grass and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said "it is sturdy to push and is very stable when you're on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require periodic pumping) offer built-in suspension that was very comfortable for my kids.

Another thing to think about is the size of the seat and shape. The seat should be large enough for your child to feel at ease and to lie down. Some three-wheel buggies will have a full lie-flat option while others will only allow an adult facing one.

The drawback of having larger wheels is that they can make some buggies quite wide and can struggle to fit through narrow spaces. This can be an issue when you're using it for a jogger or you need to to get through doorways that are narrow when you're out and about. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that let you take off the front wheels for more compact storage.

Easy to manoeuvre

One of the major advantages to a three wheel buggy is that it can be much more maneuverable, especially with a child in the back. The way in which they are constructed means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are incredibly maneuverable, making them ideal for tricky terrain like cobbles, parks, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel running buggy-wheeler with her toddler and newborn and stated: "The Terrain was a pleasure to maneuver over tough ground and the swivel front wheel being particularly helpful. I was also impressed with how well it handled kerbs with the hand-operated break. It was very stable for descending or on uneven terrain."

The only downside to this incredible maneuverability is that the larger wheels of a 3 wheel double buggy-wheel buggy may make it difficult to squeeze into tight spaces. This is something you should be aware of when your home is a city. If this is the case then a four-wheeled buggy might be the better option for you.
