Over time the handles on your doors will get worn out and will require replacement. When doing this it is essential that the new handles are in line with the exact dimensions of the previous handle.

Inline Lever/Lever

A lever or lever door handle is a modern handle that can be put in on new or replacement doors. This kind door handle is offered in a wide range of styles & finishes. A number of manufacturers offer this handle, including Avocet ERA, Fullex, Hoppe, Mila, Millenco & Yale.

The handles are inline and run with the same spindle as well as screw fixings. They can be easily fitted to existing or new uPVC/Composite doors.

The handle can be adjusted and angled to fit all users. The handle has been tested for endurance up to 200,000 cycles. This is particularly beneficial for narrower door frames where the cylinder is located further back. Lever Pad

A Lever Pad door handle made of upvc operates differently from lever-type handles found on most doors. These handle types are either operated by one spindle or two spindles, inline or offset. They are typically employed on UPVC doors with double glazing. They are available in a range of finishes and variations.

The handles have been tested to a minimum of 200 000 cycles and are available in various finishes including White, Silver, Chrome & Gold. The finish is BS EN 1670 Grade 5 and is resistant to corrosion. This provides the handle for patio door with a high performance and durability for the purpose it was designed for.

All UPVC levers for handles and hinges include a spindle and screws and can be mounted on the uPVC door. The 211mm backplate fixing centres allow for a larger size handle that can often be a benefit in replacing a defective or worn multi point door lock mechanism. The handle levers come with springs, which eliminate the problem of door handles that sag out of their horizontal position when not in use.

It is important to match the dimensions of the PZ for both the multipoint lock and the uPVC doors when choosing a replacement UPVC spindle and handle. This measurement is also referred to as the "handle centre" or "cylinder centres' and is a critical aspect of matching up the right handles.

Once you have the proper PZ size you will then be required to make sure that the lever pads and push pads are in a suitable shape to fit the American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compatible handles you need for your doors. They typically have of a round or square shape with an internal lever and an external push pad.

Most of the UPVC lever pads we offer are sprung, which means that they will return to their horizontal position when not in use, instead of hanging out and possibly securing in the frame. This prevents draughts from entering the home. Also, the majority of UPVC handle lever pad style handles are hand-operated that allows you to put them on either side of the door.

Euro Cylinder

Cylinder locks are found on uPVC and other kinds of doors. They operate by using a key to unlock a cylinder that then reveals pins which can be aligned to those inside the lock body, allow them to rotate the cam, thereby opening the door. Euro cylinders can be equipped with up to six pins with both internal and external doors typically requiring different levels of security.

The choice of cylinder is essential. It depends on the type of use your doors and handles will receive. For example, external doors must be secured with an extra secure cylinder, whilst internal doors can be secured using an ordinary cylinder. Certain cylinders are equipped with additional features that can improve security, such as anti drill or anti bump properties.

To make sure that the euro cylinder is the right size for your door, it should be measured accurately. The cylinder needs to be measured from the central screw hole to the ends of the cylinder. This includes the thumb turn in the event that one is present. It is recommended to do this while the lock is in place however, if this is not possible, you can remove it to measure. It is important to avoid having a cylindrical lock that extends beyond the handle or escutcheon. This can make it vulnerable to snapping lock attacks.

Most newer cylinders have been designed with bump and anti-drill features that are built into their design. They are designed to decrease the chances of an attack by forcing the cylinder rotate in the opposite direction. This will help to prevent attacks and ensure your doors are secure.

There are also cylinders made to withstand snapping. This is a common occurrence on cylinders. A specially designed tool is used to break the lock's break line and then the front of cylinder is snapped off. This is a much faster and simpler method to gain access than a multipoint locking system. It also leaves less evidence of the burglary which could hinder insurance claims.

Spring Cassette

This spring cassette sits in the base of the door handle backplate providing a sprung solution that returns your multipoint lock handles to their rest position after usage. The handles had no spring and would drop when the locking mechanism was removed. This simple component is the most effective way to fix this problem. It also stops your door from becoming stuck in either the open or closed position since they are difficult to close manually.

These spring cassettes were created to be used with a spring multipoint lock. They won't work with handles that aren't sprung and you'll need to cut a hole into your backplate for them to fit. (Please check the image for a technical diagram). These cassettes can be used as a replacement to damaged or missing cassettes on the backplate of uPVC door handles and hinges. They feature a square cut-out that can accommodate an 8mm spindle, and they are supplied individually.
