The irobot series app lets you look over images of objects that the Combo J7+ takes to understand which areas it should stay clear of (lamp cords, for example). You can also modify the map by drawing specific zones the robot should stay clear from.

Vacuuming

The Combo Essential features a powerful 4-Stage Cleaner that vacuums and mops in one pass. This machine can reach areas that are difficult to reach, like under the couch. It employs smart navigation to methodically clean in neat rows for wall-to-wall cleaning and to ensure that you don't fall down the steps, while sensors assist navigate around furniture. Clean Base Auto-Fill Docks empty debris for up to 60 days, and refill liquid for autonomous cleaning. It's also compatible with a wider range of cleaning products than any other 2-in-1.

The Roomba combo is a powerful mop, but it is lacking some of the more advanced features that make Roomba J7+ a top sweeper. When it detects wet surface, it switches from its mopping mode to its sweeping mode. A small robot arm raises the water tank and dustbin combination, and a new pad slides into the cleaner when you press the button.

Its navigation was on par with the best buy irobot iRobot robots I tested, and it made good progress even when the path wasn't entirely well-defined. It's not great at avoiding obstacles, but it's easy to spot and avoid larger objects such as toys and socks.

The app lets you customize your schedule. You can design an individual cleaning path and create Keep Out Zones (or Clean Zones) that will direct the robot in the right direction. It also provides a summary of its actions and its health status. You can even pair it with your Alexa, Siri, or Google Assistant-enabled devices for voice control. The smart platform of iRobot automatically updates Combo's software, adding new features and capabilities.

Mopping

It uses Imprint Smart Mapping to learn your floorplan, allowing you to tell it to mop the rooms you want, at any time you'd like. It prioritizes rooms with the most dirt and adjusts settings like suction and scrubbing intensity. The Clean Base auto-empties debris and replenishes the tank for 30 days of hands-free cleaning and it's compatible with most suitable cleaning solutions.

Object Detection

iRobot combination robots detect and avoid objects like stairs, sofas, tables, chairs, laundry hampers, pet toys and other household clutter. They also use sensors to detect carpets and rug. Then, they adjust their cleaning settings according to the recognition, assisting to avoid wet messes. They have an automatic sensor that tells them when to stop cleaning and to resurface.

With Smart Mapping, Roomba maps your home 7x faster, identifies rooms to begin targeted cleaning sooner and customizes Keep Out Zones and Clean Zones. The app or voice commands with Alexa, Siri or Google Assistant allow you to direct your robot to specific rooms and areas.

Roomba is able to recognize and avoid more than 80 common objects like shoes, power cords socks, backpacks and toys for pets toilet bowls, kitty litter boxes, and other floor dangers. In addition with Precision Vision Navigation, your iRobot Combo j7+ identifies and eschews solid pet waste.

With iRobot OS, you can view the history of your robot's cleaning including maps and image data. You can even choose the Dirt Detective feature that prioritizes cleaning the rooms with the most dirtiest conditions first. Navigation

The Roomba Combo utilizes Imprint Smart Mapping technology to learn and map your floorplan and then re-maps it if needed. This is a fantastic feature that could help you save time when you're trying to get a certain task done.

Battery Life

The Combo j7+ is powered by a powerful lithium-ion battery that offers plenty of capabilities for cleaning your home. The water tank of the robot and dust bin can hold 200 and 400 ml respectively. It also has an efficient filter system that collects dirt particles to stop them from returning. It is compatible with iRobot's app and voice assistants, so you can control it from your smartphone or other devices.

The Combo j7+ can also capture images of objects to help avoid them during future cleaning runs. iRobot however, opted not to include an automatic mop pad cleaning, a feature we've seen on recent high-end robotic cleaners. This isn't a major issue however it would have been nice to see this feature on the Combo J7+. The Combo J7+ comes with an excellent warranty and is easy to use.
