iRobot is the leader in the market for smart vacuums and mopping, and the Combo j9+ builds on the iRobot legacy. It is rated as having the Best Irobot dust and dirt pick-up performance, and features an intelligent mopping system that's powered by the new iRobot OS. This latest software provides robots with "smart cleaning preference" and allows them to automatically clean rooms according to the needs of each room. For instance they might pay more attention to the kitchen floor and increase the pressure on the floor scrubber when in the entryway, or increase the suction power for carpeted areas.

The j9+ is an excellent choice for homes with a variety of floor surfaces, as it is able to pick up dirt and debris on both carpeted floors and bare floors. The irobot series App is intuitive and simple, however it's not without flaws. It doesn't support live coverage maps or remote control, and it can be frustrating to use. It's also prone to dropping connections and often will leave you out, which isn't the best experience. It also doesn't allow you to set a timer for the robot to complete an assignment.

What is the Roomba Combo j7+?

The Combo j7+ is a real 2-in-1 robot mop and vacuum. It has a 3.8-star rating on Amazon and is one of the smartest mopping robots out available (though competitors like the Ecovacs Deebot X1 Omni and the Roborock Q5+ are better in removing messes). Its strengths include its reliability, obstacle avoidance, home navigation, and the ability to maintain a level of cleanliness in between more thorough cleaning sessions.

It also does a good job of keeping floors clean, even in carpets with high pile. PrecisionVision Navigation allows the robot to avoid obstacles like cords and shoes. It also eliminates pet waste and toys. Dirt Detect Technology also identifies dirty areas and begins to clean them up more thoroughly. Place the pad on top of the mops and the machine will begin cleaning.

In addition to the regular robot vacuum and mop mode, the Combo j7+ can also be set to run in a sweep-only mode, where it simply sweeps the floor without using mop. You can also schedule a cleaning time in advance, however we found it was better to stick with the default auto-cleaning settings.

Automatic updates are another bonus that will keep your Roomba running smoothly. You can also update manually it if you are willing to connect it to Wi-Fi, download the latest software and wait a few minutes.

The Combo j7+, like other iRobot Robots, requires some maintenance. The dust bin of the Combo j7+ must be cleaned at minimum every two weeks. Its liquid chamber can be filled with cleaning solutions.
