3 Wheeler Buggies

A three-wheeled buggy is ideal for off-road terrain and offers a smooth ride for baby. They are also simpler to push and maneuver than a four-wheel buggy especially those equipped with fabric slings or seat units, which are placed in a tight position within the frame to provide the best shape and weight distribution.

Stability

Three-wheeled vehicles are very stable, making them an excellent choice for off-road walking (especially when equipped with a seat that is all-terrain or off-road). These types of buggys typically have large front tires that are able to handle bumps, kerbs and rough terrain. Some even have a lockable front wheel for extra stability on uneven terrain.

If you're looking for a buggy that will take on tricky terrain, then you'll need one with big wheels. These are made to handle dirt, cobbles, and grass tracks easily, while still providing smooth riding. They are also great for jogging because they have built in suspension and are simple to climb and descend kerbs. However, the drawback is that they are quite heavy to push.

Fabric slings are positioned within the frame and not on top as modular seats. This model has a lower centre of gravity at the right height. It is much easier to push, and lighter to kerb-pop (you can't underestimate the number of times you'll do that as a brand new parent!).

Seating

The capacity for 3 wheel bassinet stroller wheelers is impressive, and there are a number of different options to choose from. For a newborn, there is the option to use the included carrycot (which MFM reviewer Alice says is a cozy and comfortable lie-flat bed that can be used both on and off the buggy) and older infants and toddlers can be seated in the parent-facing or world-facing seat unit that is roomy and padded, and comes with adjustable ventilation. It's important to note that these seats do not recline completely however, they can be lowered to the lowest setting that will still allow your child plenty of headroom and space to move around.

A sling seat made of cloth is also available. It is placed snugly within the frame rather than sitting on top as a modular seat and this provides a lower center of gravity as well as a perfect weight distribution. This makes it easier and lighter to push especially when you're on bumpy terrain or curbs and MFM reviewer Kath loved the way that this style of seat negotiated these obstacles.

In addition to a big shopping basket, this kind of buggy usually has very useful features like an extended 50+ UV hood, an easy to use brake pedal and some game-changing visibility lights that come up from the handlebars and can be placed in front of the occupants to improve their safety when tackling tricky terrain.

Storage

The 3-wheeled model is more stable and can be pushed by one hand. It's also ideal for difficult terrain. However, it does mean that the basket won't hold as much as a 4-wheeler buggy.

A high-quality ATP will come with a great suspension, pneumatic tyres, and a padded handle to ensure your ease. It should also be equipped to carry the form of a car seat and carrycot which means you can use it right from birth.

MFM's reviewers discovered that the 3-wheeler frames didn't fit through their home doors or car boot. If you're worried about space, be sure to check out the dimensions of the buggy when it is folded prior to purchasing.

Find a 3 wheel strollers-wheeler that has 2 (or 3 wheel baby strollers!) seats. This is the most suitable option for your future and will save you money. The iCandy strawberry sport is one of the top of them; it can be used as a single seat from day dot and later converts to a twin buggies when your baby begins walking.

Tyres

These tyres absorb bumps and uneven surfaces to make your child's ride more enjoyable. They are typically included on pushchairs such as the Phil & Ted's Sport that MFM reviewer Kath said provided "an exceptional ride for her toddler". She also noted that the grippy tyres on the Phil and Ted's Sport made it easier for her to maneuver around kerbs and other obstacles.

They can be difficult to maintain their inflation and need to be topped up frequently. They are also more susceptible to punctures than foam tyres. So you'll need to ensure that you have a repair kit with spare tubes and a pump on hand when you are out and about with your buggy.

PU tyres are found on a lot more pushchairs than air-filled tyres but they are still just as sturdy. PU tyres are easily identified by their matte finish and soft feel. They also slide easily on uneven and tied surfaces.

If you move your hand over the tyres, then you can tell if they're rubber or PU. If it feels as if it's sliding, then it is a rubber or PU. You can also confirm whether your buggy has PU tyres by sliding the tyres on a clean, flat surface - they'll be able to roll easily and should fit snugly into their wheel hubs.

Foam tyres are typically used in high-performance buggies as well as Joggers due to their ability to deal with the rough terrain common to this type of pushchair. This can make your buggy less stable because the foam will lose its springy nature. Also, these kinds of tyres can often be noisy as they generate a lot of noise as you turn and make your way around the town.
