Three Wheeled Buggies

If you're looking for a buggy to run with or just a stroller that can be used for strolls around the neighborhood, three-wheeled buggies offer great mobility. Their compact design makes them easy to maneuver even in tight spots.

For a smooth ride, go for a pram fitted with air-filled tyres and look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. However, they are more prone to punctures, so make sure you are prepared with an repair kit.

New data show that three-wheeled buggies, that emblem of the noughties, which were more expensive than common sense, are in a steep decline. They have been replaced by four-wheelers that can handle a wider range of terrain, yet still look stylish and easy to push.

Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasional pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my kids.

The shape and size of the seat is another aspect to consider. You will want it to be large enough for your child's comfort and you will also need it to recline to allow them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with the option of lying flat that allows your child to lie flat and face you, while other buggies only allow a parent-facing one.

Others are designed for running and have fixed wheels that lock to provide increased speed and stability. This also helps in the event that you hit a tree root or stray road, as the front wheel will lift up to keep you from hitting it.

Many 3 wheel pushchairs feature air filled tyres which means they are able to handle a variety of terrains and are more flexible than four wheelers. They are also lighter. They are prone to punctures, so you'll need to have repair kits and an spare inner tube on hand.

Many models have small folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels and store them more compactly.

Easy to maneuver

A three-wheeled buggy is more comfortable to drive with a child. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are really maneuverable and are ideal for difficult terrain such as parks, cobbles, bumpy pavements and dirt tracks.

MFM reviewer Kath tried out a three-wheeler with her infant and toddler and said: "The Terrain was a delight to maneuver on the terrain with the swivel rear wheel particularly useful. I was also impressed by how well it dealt with bumps, particularly when using the hand-operated brake. It was extremely stable when in the downhills or on a rough terrain."

The only downside of this amazing maneuverability is that the 3 wheel buggy's larger wheels do sometimes mean that it will be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces - something to consider especially if you live in a metropolitan region. If this is a problem then a 4-wheel buggy may be a better option for you.
