How to unlock your Vehicle

Modern electronic key fobs provide more functionality and are more convenient when compared to manual keys. The batteries will eventually wear out and need to be replaced. If your Volvo key fob has started to fail, it's a good sign that the battery is depleted and will require replacement soon.

Fortunately, there are some simple steps that you can follow to replace your Volvo v70 key key fob battery at your own expense. Find a clean area to work on. Lay out all the tools that you'll require. Locate the battery hatch and make sure it is set to "open." Use a flathead screwdriver or coin or other similar tool to make the hatch to open. Then, carefully remove the battery from its socket by lifting up on the side that is closest to the key-ring loop. Wear rubber gloves to protect the clips and electronic contact surfaces.

After the battery is removed, insert the new battery into its socket. Make sure that the positive side of the battery is facing up and that all clips are seated. Then slide the cover towards the key-ring loop section until it becomes loose and slips off. Take off the cover to reveal the hidden key blade. This will be used to unlock your vehicle from the driver's side door when the battery of your key fob is dead or lost.

How to Start Your Vehicle

Modern vehicles are usually equipped with key fobs that can perform much more than just unlock or lock the doors. They can also perform other functions like summoning and auto parking the vehicle. After you have opened the fob, locate and remove the CR 2032 3V battery. Put a brand new battery in its spot and join the fob.

Note: Older Volvos use a different type of battery, the CR2025. CR2025 batteries are 7 tenths of a millimeter thinner than a CR2032 battery, so you will need to be careful with the placement of the replacement.
