Repair Patches

If you've got a gap or two in your gear, you might want to consider adding some adhesive patches to your rep kit. These heavy-duty patches feature high-performance adhesive that has been applied to a tough polyurethane backing that allows a tear to recover under pressure. These patches are available in transparent or colored versions. They ensure durability against punctures as well as sunlight, water, saltwater and temperature extremes.

If your kit does not include any of the items above You may want to consider adding a water-proof Aquaseal wader sealant. This water-tight glue will bond to plastics, fabric, rep kit metals and more for a permanent fix. This is ideal for repairs to drysuits and can also be employed in the field. Allow the sealant to set for at least 12 hours prior to using the repaired equipment.

The essential field fabric kit for tents, packs and rainwear made of silicone-impregnated nylon. This kit includes one Clean Tape repair patch as well as sil-nylon swatch. Use the tube-scuffer tool to roughen the surface. This will aid the glue stick. Spread a thin layer on the patch. Cover the area with a layer which is at the very least big as the patch. Let the glue get tacky, then press the patch in firmly and secure it.

This kit contains two adhesive-backed, clear Tenacious Tape pressure sensitive fabric patch for repair and a 1/4 ounce tube of Seam Grip urethane repair adhesive and sealant. It is perfect for reinforcing damaged sleep bags, rainwear, and packs.
