Size

Double pushchairs are generally more spacious than single ones, especially when they are side-byside buggies, such as the Kolcraft Geo 3 or UPPAbaby. This extra width allows them to carry heavier children without straining their chassis. They also have other key features that make them stand out, like large pop-out canopy sizes with SPF 50 and peekaboo windows and swivel lock front wheels which help navigate narrow spots such as aisles for shopping; a one-parent cup holder and a smart fold mechanism that can be done by one hand; and 10 inch back wheels that aren't built for tough terrain but manage city streets and theme parks quite well.

In terms of cost, these types of lightweight buggies, which are side-by-side, are surprisingly affordable.

Weight

The lighter the double buggy the more easy it is to move and lift. The Joie Evalite Duo, which is the lightest of our lab tests, is a great choice if weight is an issue. It's got plenty of features including an enormous pop-out canopy that has SPF50 and a peekaboo window and a quick-release folding system that can be folded flat in just a few seconds with four-wheel suspension to handle rough terrain, and a swivel wheel on the front, which allows you to maneuver narrow aisles of supermarkets and stores. It's also super-affordable at just over PS1,000. It can also carry twins or a baby and toddler with the purchase of an additional'sidepack'.

Flexibility

A double twin buggy is an excellent option for parents with twins, or even a baby and toddler. The narrow tandem buggies can be used to squeeze into small spaces. Side-by-side models let you to keep the track of your children and keep them safe while you are navigating the park or shopping. There are many buggies that come with a variety of seat configurations which allows you to alter the seat as your children grow. Some offer the option of adding a ride-on board or car seat.

One of the more comfortable and lightweight doubles we've tried the buggy has seats that are elevated to the level of stadium seats so your children have a great view. It also has nice-sized UPF 50+ canopies with peekaboo windows; padded toddler seat and an additional RumbleSeat with built-in adjustable leg and foot rests; and a single-parent cup holder. The seats recline independently by pressing a lever under each seat. The testers also appreciate the fact that the straps can be fastened and removed with just one hand. The handle is simple to twist and makes it easy to fold. It can also be stored with the backrest raised for easy access.
