There's a 'Eco' mode that operates the vacuum quietly and extends the run time, while Turbo mode delivers the most powerful cleaning. However Turbo mode operates at a loud, unfriendly volume which can be a problem in the event that you're using the D7 while you're working or watching TV.

The D7 is among the few robots that are able to create and store multiple floor plans, which is ideal for multi-level homes. It also comes with a quick boost feature that allows it to return to its base, recharge and resume cleaning. This is particularly useful when cleaning areas that are difficult. Neato's app is easy to use and frequently updated with new features. For the price, this is among the top robots for carpets with thick hair on the market.

2. Eufy RoboVac 11S

The Eufy 11S, like the Neato D7 is sleek and low-profile. This makes it possible to get under couches, beds, and coffee tables easier than other robot vacuums. It also features some innovative features that allow it to clean better and get to where you want it to, like the no-go lines you can draw on virtual maps to stop it from cleaning sensitive areas like pet bowls and bed. It also comes with an auto recharge and resume feature, in the event that the battery fails to charge before it has finished cleaning the area, it will make its return to its base to charge and then resumes where it began.

In our tests, the RoboVac 11S performed more than its predecessor, the eufy RoboVac 30C. It also did better than the ILIFE A4s, the bObsweep Bob Pro, and the ILIFE a4s. Its dirt compartment is larger and it has a longer battery life, and it clears more debris on everything from bare floors to low and high-pile carpet. It is also more durable and easier to maintain and has lower recurring costs and moves more efficiently.

This isn't a reliable unit on carpet however, it's still impressive given its cost.

The iLife V3s Pro's cleaning capability is also pretty good. It does a decent job on floors that aren't clean and also took out fake Christmas tree needles, bits of tinsel, and mud-like pieces in my mopping tests. It's not quite as good as the Best robot vacuums with lidar for pet hair robot mop.

4. Roborock S7

For a robotic vacuum with impressive technological capabilities the Roborock s7 is an excellent value. The mid-priced model works like a lot of high-end models and is simple to use and maintain. It also has a wide array of high-end features that are similar to the capabilities of robots with twice the price. This makes it a great choice for a first-time purchaser, someone upgrading from a basic model, or anyone looking to reduce time and effort when cleaning their home.

This robot is able to be used on carpet and bare floors. Its suction power of 2,000Pa is strong enough to handle heavy, heavily soiled carpeting. It's even able to clean pet hair that has accumulated in cracks and crevices on bare floors. It's well-built, maneuvers efficiently and can be used with Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant voice commands to allow hands-free operation. The battery is smaller than other models, but it's still enough to power homes in most cases.

The s7 can also function as mopping robot. It comes with a 200ml reservoir of water as well as a mopping pad that can be attached to the robot's back. Add water and a microfiber towel, and the s7 will begin mopping your floors. The s7 will automatically stop and return to its dock once the mopping is completed.

It is incredibly built, has a comprehensive suite of navigation features and is simple to maintain. However, it has a lower maximum battery life than some other units and incurs more cost-per-use.

The Q5 is one of the slowest-moving robots we've tried, but it has a reliable layout algorithm that doesn't require the assistance of a babysitter after its first run through the space. It starts by tracing a perimeter, and then fills the interior with parallel lines. When the task is completed it goes back to the charging station if it was not at the base.

It did an excellent job of cleaning hardwood floors and removing at least 88% dirt off each test. It struggled a bit more on low and high carpet, but it still did better than the average unit. It also has mopping attachments to tackle wet spills, although we didn't test this feature.

Its maneuverability, which is above the norm for lidar robots is that it can bump into furniture or other obstacles with a soft bump. Its navigation system is able to detect stairs and floors with multiple levels which is a great feature that lets it efficiently navigate multi-story homes. It can also identify individual room types when you select them in the app. It can also adjust its power level, set no-go zones and view a map of the cleaning area. The Q5 can be controlled via the mobile app or through voice commands from Alexa, Google Assistant and Apple Siri.
