Nordstrom's flagship store in New York City will be hosting an in-store market featuring eight Black-owned businesses from February 14 to March 6. The specially curated market features clothing, food and home goods from Caribbean lifestyle-inspired Chen Burkett New York, soulful clothing brand Savant Studios, heavy metal jewelry brand Heavy Metals NYC, Modish Decor Pillows and Brooklyn Brewed Sorrel.

Nasrin Jean Baptiste, a fashion stylist was the founder of Petit Kouraj, a Haitian Creole term for "little courage". After years of styling, she listened her inner voice and designed a luxurious bag line that blends knitwear, sculpture and cultural identity.

Jean-Baptiste worked with a group of women in Haiti to design her crochet bags. She made use of 100 100% cotton net, rayon fringe and leather handles. They spend up to 12 hours making a single bag.

Brooklyn-based brand Vavvoune is a brand that focuses on unique cut silhouettes and a striking color palette, such as this fringe crossbody. You can also go for a more sophisticated look with the label's Michelle tote, which has a geometric patterns that are beveled and a matching pouch inside.

Valerie Blaise

Created by self-taught designer/artisan Valerie Blaise in Brooklyn New York. VAVVOUNE (pronounced vav*une) is a leather-based accessories brand recognized by way of cultured design. The brand's innovative operation is influenced by moods nostalgia, and practicality.
